Studio work continuation…

I found planks of old timber which where in the studio and I wanted to up-cycle them.  I glued them together to make a wall of wood which were different heights. This goes back to my first term where I was looking at the meaning of lines.

Thin Lines – Fragile, elegant, easy to break, delicate

Think Lines – Hard to break, strength, make a statement

Horizontal – resting, quiet, comfort, stable (can not fall over), connected with the earth

Vertical – Potential energy, strong, rigid, stability, height, convert lack of movement

Diagonal – Unbalanced, restless, uncontrolled energy, action, movement, tension, excitement, solid

Zig Zag – High energy, excitement, intense movement, confusion, danger, destruction

I have then used the photographs of refugees from Andrea Bruce and cut them to fit the sides of the planks. I have used masking tape to stick them down as this is a temporary fix and will not last, linking this to the refugees always moving and never fixed to one place they can call home.
